President Ian welcomed members and guests to our meeting, particularly our guests PDG Brian Beasley and his lovely wife Heather. Visiting Rotarians Paul & Elizabeth Tollis, Geoff & July Fuller and Judy Northam from the Rotary Club of Taree on Manning. It was also good to see our friend Judy Richardson back again and to also welcome Ashley Selibio who is a nominee for our Club’s Youth Ambassador position. A bonus was to have visiting Rotarians Regina and Vim from the Rotary Club of Springfield, Queensland at our meeting.
President Ian also gave his toast for the night which was to Sandi Outram for all her hard work particularly in assisting with the running of the Football Canteen.
He also thanked everyone who helped on the Football Canteen over the weekend. On the Sunday an amount of $545 was taken. Well done to everyone who helped.
Mitch Brown will be our guest speaker next week and will talk to us about his exchange trip to Okyama, Japan.
Current AG Murray Difford introduced candidate 1 for the Youth Ambassador role for our club Ashley Selibio who gave us an overview of herself and what she sees this role as being. Candidate 2 will talk to our Club at next week’s Meeting.
Our Rotary Club is dedicated to local Rotary programs for secondary school students. We are closely connected with and do work with local council and other organisations that concern our Youth.
Rotary programs are focussed on developmental and leadership aspects relative to their field of interest eg Rotary Youth in Agriculture – Dairy, Model United Nationals Assembly – Debating, Public Speaking and a number of Science programs to name as few.
Our Club goal is to promote a focus on youth and we initiated the Rotary Club of Taree Youth Ambassador role. This prestigious acknowledgement is the subject of candidate assessment, personal character and the ability to provide leadership to peers.
The past couple of years has seen firstly, Mitch Brown act in this role, followed by Marylyn Sendah. Both Mitch and Marylyn exceeded our expectations whilst in this role and we are very proud of our association with these two fine young people.
